Q: What is the ROI of hiring a professional for our business imagery?
A: Professional photography is an investment in your company's long-term asset library. One high-end production can provide months of job content for your website, social media, annual reports, and advertising campaigns. By getting the lighting, styling, and technical execution right the first time, you save your team hours of frustration and ensure your brand looks its best from day one.
Q: What are your commercial photography rates?
A: Every project is unique. Our pricing typically consists of a Creative Fee (which covers the time, expertise and equipment) and a Usage Licensing Fee. For a detailed quote tailored to your specific campaign please contact us with your project brief.
Q: What photography niches do you specialize in?
A: Commercial food photography, Product, Fitness, Architectural, Biotech and Lifestyle.
Q: Are you insured for on-location commercial shoots?
A: Yes, I carry full professional liability insurance and can provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) prior to shooting at your corporate campus, laboratory, manufacturing facility or construction site.
Q: How is commercial licensing calculated?
A: Licensing fees are based on usage, duration, and geography. For example, a local social media campaign will have a different rate than a nationwide billboard or print catalog. We provide transparent, custom quotes so you only pay for the usage your brand actually needs.
Q: Do you work on-location or in a studio?
A: I am fully equipped for both. Whether it's a controlled environment for product photography or a complex on-site architectural or corporate shoot in San Diego or beyond, I bring professional lighting and equipment to ensure consistent high-end results.
Q: Can we review images in real-time during the shoot?
A: Absolutely. I prefer to shoot 'tethered' meaning images are transmitted instantly to a high resolution monitor or laptop screen. This allows us to collaborate in real-time, making adjustments to styling, lighting, and composition on the spot to insure we hit the mark.
Q: What areas do you serve for commercial photography?
A: I will happily travel all over the U.S, but I focus most of my attention on Southern California, including San Diego, Los Angeles, Encinitas, Carlsbad, Del Mar and La Jolla.
Q: How do we get started and book a date?
A: The process starts with a shot list from the client and a description of the project. From there I generate an estimate. If the client accepts the estimate we then work together to schedule a date.
Q:How long does a typical product or food shoot take?
A: That is a trick question, there is no typical. However, after consulting with a potential client to gather more information I can then provide an estimate of the shoot duration with the understanding that if we go over time the final numbers might go up. Conversely if the shoot is finished in less time than planned I typically lower my fees.
Q: Do you help with food styling or prop sourcing?
A: For complex food or product shoots I highly recommend bringing in a professional stylist to ensure the highest quality results.I am happy to manage the hiring of these crew members as part of the production fee. Sometime if I am shooting for a restaurant I work in concert with chef who acts as the stylist. And occasionally I work with an art director or a marketing director as a team and we do the styling together.
Q: Who owns the copyright to the images?
A: Per standard industry practice, the photographer retains the copyright. However I grant you a Usage license that allows your business to use the images for specific purposes (social media, print ads, website, etc.). Total "buyouts" or transfers of copyright are available upon request for additional fee.
Q:What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
A: Commercial productions involve significant planning and often the booking of assistants and equipment. Shoots cancelled within 24 to 72 hours of the start time may be subject to a kill fee or loss of deposit to cover costs incurred.
Q: Do you require a deposit to secure a date?
A: Yes. A 33% to 50% retainer is required to officially reserve your dates on our calendar. The remaining balance is due upon the delivery of the final images.
